Beating the Monday Blues

Ivanovic gives Chelsea a vital lead

Ivanovic gives Chelsea a vital lead

Man City came into this important fixture on the back of an impressive 5-1 win over Spurs last week at White Hart Lane while Chelsea were left disappointed from a 0-0 home draw with West Ham. The news that Sergio Aguero would be out for a month meant the in-form Alvaro Negredo would play up front with Edin Dzeko. An injury for Fernandinho meant Demichelis would play in midfield, with Aleksandar Kolarov coming in at left back for Gael Clichy. Brendan Rodgers continues to fight on for a Champion’s League place with Everton, Man United and Tottenham also in contention. New manager Pepe Mel was still looking for his first victory since joining the club on the 9th January. With a disappointing 4-3 loss against Aston Villa last week, it seems the Spaniard needs to find his feet quickly or risk slipping down to a relegation spot on the table. A tricky home tie to the Merseyside outfit could be pivotal in West Brom’s season should they fail to get a result….

In what seems to be a very hostile and constantly fluxing table this season, it could be a number of clubs who are set to go down to the Championship.
